After a smoked-filled Saturday night with the Torq Storm Superchargers and Motor Life Burnout Challenge and Retro Meet, we're kicking off Sunday morning with the MSD and Pro Touring.com 3S Challenge.

Taking center stage, adjacent to the drag strip, the 3S Challenge is a speed-stop competition that challenges your skill and pushes your car to the maximum.

The concept is straightforward, yet its mastery demands finesse. It commences with two drivers at a complete standstill on parallel tracks. Subsequently, each driver embarks on two sweeping 180-degree turns, diverging away from each other. Afterward, a drag race ensues towards the finish line.

Beyond the finish line, precisely at the timing lights, awaits a box surrounded by cones. Vehicles are obliged to come to a halt within this marked enclosure. If you knock over a cone or exit the box, it results in disqualification. On the surface, it might seem quite simple.

Drivers max out their braking, turning, and acceleration—partly at the same time. Finding traction is the real challenge.

The 3S Challenge is open to Autocross competitors and an essential part of the Grand Champion competition. The Grand Champions are those with the highest combined scores from autocross, drag racing, and 3S challenge competitions.
