DashDesign 2.0 is Available Now!

04/23/2021

HAWTHORNE, CAโ€”AEM has released DashDesign 2.0 editing software for its CD Carbon Digital Dash Displays. This is not an updateโ€”it is a completely new dash interface that makes everything easier! From identifying and creating channels, custom designs and managing layouts and templates to setting alarms, logging rates and lap times, DashDesign 2.0 is organized to make both the setup and creative process quick, easy and fun. It even includes a new Simulator that allows you to see your layouts in action before you upload them! As with all of our software, DashDesign is free and as we continue to update this new version we will never charge for upgrades.

We are so confident that you will love the new software that we are putting our money where our mouth is. In June, we are announcing our DashDesign Users Contest where the Grand Prize Winner will receive $5,000.00 in credit towards any AEM Performance Electronics products! Stay tuned for contest rules.

Check out the hottest new features below:

1.New Simulator with AEMdata playback capability

a. User can put their layouts into the simulator and link AEMdata log files to DashDesign to simulate the functionality of the screens (linked logs MUST be AEMdata files)

b. Ability to monitor and test warning and alarm functionality

2.Expanded Sensor Library with predefined sensor calibrations

a. Sensors in the database are automatically scaled, this feature sets the scalar and offset automatically

3.New Tabs make navigating DashDesign easier and more efficient

a. We have separated the seven major elements of DashDesign into a tabular form to make setup and navigation simpler and faster, and added a tab for the simulator

i.Screens Tab โ€“ Used to manage screens, create and configure graphical elements. A new menu is added to quickly select, drag and drop gauges, shapes, warnings, images, text and other layout elements

ii.Channels Tab โ€“ Create and configure channels from the CAN stream. All channels from all devices are visible on this tab

iii.Alarms Tab โ€“ Define all of your warnings and alarm channels, and easily assign those channels to the left and right LEDs on the display using check boxes if desired

iv.CAN Tab โ€“ This is where you import DBC files. This tab also provides a graphical representation of the message structure, which is presented in tabular form to make it easier to visualize the datastream

v.Logger Tab โ€“ Set your logging channels and rates on this tab

vi.Setup Tab โ€“ Set your shift lights, display brightness, lap timing and more. A new Monitor Channels window allows you to set alarms for channels that are not being displayed or logged

vii.Graphics Tab โ€“ Keeps all of your graphics in one place for easy access, with the ability to preview a graphic before opening it

viii.Simulator Tab โ€“ Simulate your layouts using linked AEMdata log files

4.Setup Check Feature identifies any issues in your layout when you open it so that you can quickly make the necessary corrections, including errors, warnings and information. If a warning is triggered by this feature, you can double click on it to take you to that section of your layout and fix it

5.Grouping Feature provides the ability to make global changes to a layoutโ€™s text by grouping them together

a. Users can select some or all of the text on the page and globally change the colors, fonts, positions, etc.

6.Global Units Feature allows you to set standard or metric units globally โ€“ no more conversion channels!

a. By simply clicking an icon in the software, users can now set their unit preference across all of their layouts without having to click each individual channel or use any conversion channels

7.Screen Import Feature allows you to see your screens before you open them

a. This feature will import layouts from a user defined folder or location on your computer, and has the ability to import every layout in your entire computer (although we donโ€™t recommend this)

8.Undo Feature (CTRL + Z) and History Window

a. Easily undo changes to your layout and revert back using the new History window that keeps a running tab of recorded edits that allows you to return back to any given point in the design process

9.New Graphics Library

a. Located in the Graphics Tab, keeps all of your graphics in one location, including icons, so that they are easy to find

10.Streamlined OBDII Input Feature allows you to select the discovered OBDII channels that you want to use prior to importing them into the setup file
